a guide to D&D with young players

How to use magic

When you play a magic-user, you choose a type of magic user and learn their spells as you go on adventures. In the Drama & Danger Club, all spells are cast with a roll of the d20. Add your spell-casting ability to that roll and hope to meet or beat the DC.

If you don’t succeed, you fail to cast the spell. If you roll a 1, the spell fails in the worst way.

Spell Effects

Use the d10 for all spell effects. If a spell does damage, it does 1d10 damage. If it does damage to a group of creatures, divide the d10 result across them. If it affects a number of creatures, it affects 1d10 creatures. If it lasts for a certain amount of time, it lasts for 1d10 rounds.
