a guide to D&D with young players

How to play monsters

Fighting with monsters can seem complicated for the DM. Simplify your combat by thinking of how dangerous a monster is. For example, one goblin is mostly a pest. It won’t have many hit points and won’t do much damage.

In the Young Adventurer’s Guides, monsters have a rating symbolized with a Skull and a number. We’ve included that here in case you want to use that guide as your manual of monsters.
